🌸花まつりって？

毎年4月8日はお釈迦様の誕生日🎂

全国のお寺では「花まつり（灌仏会）」が行われ、花で飾られたお堂「花御堂」に誕生仏を安置し、甘茶をかけてお祝いします🌸🍵

花が咲き乱れ、甘露の雨が降ったという伝説にちなむ、やさしく平和なお祭りです✨

Day 355: The Buddha Celebrated by the Universe ✨

🎨 Rucu’s Artwork: “The Buddha Celebrated by the Universe”

This piece received an Honorable Mention in the 8th Hanamatsuri Design Award, hosted by the Japan Buddhist Federation ✨

It shows the Buddha riding an elephant, surrounded by blooming flowers—depicting the entire universe joyfully celebrating his birth 🌏🕊

🌸 What is Hanamatsuri?

April 8 is the Buddha’s birthday 🎂

Temples across Japan celebrate with Hanamatsuri (Flower Festival), where a statue of the newborn Buddha is placed in a flower-decorated pavilion (Hanamido), and sweet tea is poured over it in a ritual called Kanbutsu-e 🌸🍵

The festival is inspired by the legend that flowers bloomed and sweet rain fell from the sky when the Buddha was born—a gentle and peaceful celebration of life✨
